What we offer

Here at First United Methodist Preschool

The education and well being of your child is very important to us at First United Methodist Preschool. Learn more about the quality of enriching activities we provide.

Religion is taught daily in all classrooms. The children learn Bible verses, Bible stories, and Bible songs weekly. The children visit God’s House, the Church once a week for a daily devotional with the pastor and the teachers.

All classes teach math, science, and social studies skills. The children are taught at their appropriate age level through thematic units. Early literacy is taught through reading, singing, and verbal communication. Phonics and handwriting skills are also taught daily in the preschool and pre-k classes. Spanish is taught twice a week to the two, three, and four year old classes.

The children are offered lots of time to move at FUM Preschool. Daily the children play outside on the playground and sing and dance to interactive songs in the classroom. Once a week the children enjoy music time where they move and groove while learning new bible songs and classic children songs. When the weather is pretty children get to enjoy nature walks, scavenger hunts and other outside activities that go along with what they are learning.

Good manners, socialization skills, and the Fruits of the Spirit are taught and reinforced daily in all classrooms. We feel that is is very important that your child be taught these from an early age so they can fully develop into the best they can be growing in God's spirit from an early age. We also believe that these long lasting skills should be taught before entering the school system so they can succeed.

First United Methodist Preschool is a place for healthy children. Sick children will NOT be allowed to stay. If your child exhibits symptoms of illness during the day, we will contact you immediately to pick him/her up.

Staff members are certified by the American Safety and Health Institute in Adult/Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid.

Lunch time and snack time is  held in the classroom. On pretty days the children enjoy eating outside on the picnic tables.

Morning: A nutritious morning snack is provided to all children. Aftercare: A snack and drink is provided after napping. Lunch: All children bring their own lunch in a lunch box.
