Where can you go to build a tent, make a craft, learn about WaCkY HoLiDaYs, eat fun snacks, play cool games, AND learn about God?
We are very excited about all of the great children’s activities we have going on here at First United Methodist Church. We would like to encourage all adults and children to come visit us Wednesday nights for our FaithWeavers program. We learn about God while we sing, dance, play games, and make delicious snacks! We meet at 5:30 in the parlor. With school, it is hard to make it to weekday events; that’s ok! We have Children’s Church for both services on Sunday mornings, as well as Sunday school classes for all age groups. Keep your eyes open for our new events. As we prepare for all of these activities, We would like to invite the adults of the congregation to think about their availability to help out. The children love to meet new people of the congregation, and we could always use some help. If you are interested in coming on a Wednesday or Sunday night please contact me! With the activities planned, all volunteering would consist of a fun attitude and some time to spend with great kids.
Christ Kids-ALL SUMMER
Throughout the year, the children of FUMC meet at 5:30 PM on Wednesdays for FaithWeaver Friends (FWF). During the summer, we are taking FWF on the road! In June, the odd number days will be at the church for normal Wednesday programming; June 9th and 23rd.
The even number days will be spent out and about in our community. June 2nd we will go to Yogi Bear Park for fun in the sun, and June 30th we will be having a picnic at Hammond Square Park. Through the summer we will also have a once a month weekend activity. In June, we will be going to New Orleans to deliver our Pop Tops and visit the Zoo! In July we will be going to see a movie, be thinking of what you want to see! In August, we will have a back to school art day!
Programs continue to come up and get placed on the calendar! Don’t forget to leave us an email with your address so you do not miss out on all of the great summer activities we have planned.
Children’s Council
On the first Wednesday of every month the children’s council meets. We brainstorm new ideas and work together to make important decisions about our children’s programs. I would like to invite all parents of children in the congregation to attend our next children’s council meeting on October 7th at 7:00 pm. This meeting is intended to be a version of an Open House. I would like all parents to come out and see the programs that are instated at the church and help me understand why or why not their children would like these programs. There is no one who knows a child more than their parent. The more I know about all of the children, the more changes and new programs can be started to involve them. Also, if there are other people in the church that have ideas for our children’s programs, I invite you to join us as well. We have a lot of new things going on in our church! I would like to see the children’s ministry grow with the church and through your support this can happen!
Calling all retired teachers,
current teachers, and people
with the love to teach…
Our children are in dire need of a Sunday School teacher. The class includes 2nd grade through 5th grade and at most, the class has ten students. The program is set up for you; all you would have to do is execute it. The students are excited and willing to learn; and we need to match them with a teacher or group of teachers that are excited and willing to teach these children. The children and the curriculum is open to multiple teachers on a rotating schedule or just one teacher, which is the ideal opportunities for several people to for a team and each carrying a small responsibility fulfill a huge need. I would like more for these children than the last minutes subs and stand ins that they have been getting lately, don’t you?. These children have the desire to be taught; all they need is a person that has the desire to teach them and leave that lasting impression on these children’s hearts. I invite everyone to visit our Sunday School class so you can see how easy it truly is.
